This year, we are celebrating a double anniversary: 60 years of Max Dörr Förderanlagen and 25 years of Thomas Dörr Küchensysteme. Two successful journeys that are linked by the history and values of our family business. Since 1966, our team at our site in Gemmingen has been developing and manufacturing innovative solutions with a common goal: to make people's work easier.

A FAMILY HISTORY
For three generations, the name Dörr has stood for quality craftsmanship, the courage to embrace change and a special connection to its home town of Gemmingen.
1966
FOUNDING OF MAX DÖRR FÖRDERANLAGEN
Trained locksmith, born entrepreneur. Max Dörr founded his company on 1 January 1966. His son Thomas was just five days old at the time. The first conveyor belts were created based on chalk drawings on the floor of a rented railway shed. At his side: Ria Dörr, mother, "chief financial officer" and the heart and soul of the company. What began modestly in Gemmingen developed into a sought-after partner for conveyor solutions for large companies such as Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen from 1968 onwards.
1992
THOMAS DÖRR JOINS THE COMPANY
Fighter, creator, founder. Thomas Dörr actually wanted to become a doctor. But things turned out differently. After completing his degree in industrial engineering, he took over his parents' company in 1992 – in the midst of a difficult phase for the automotive industry. Years of upheaval followed. The decisive impetus came from an unusual request. Thomas Dörr developed a cutlery wrapping machine and thus laid the foundation for a second company.
2001
FOUNDING OF THOMAS DÖRR CUTLERY AND KITCHEN SYSTEMS
Five years of development, a trade fair and the turning point to success. In 2001, Thomas Dörr presented the first cutlery wrapping machine at Hogatec in Düsseldorf. The response was clear. One machine turned into many. Cutlery polishing, glass polishing and cutlery sorting machines followed. Step by step, enquiry by enquiry. At the same time, Max Dörr Förderanlagen transformed itself – from the automotive industry to new industries and customers.
2024
OFFICIAL HANDOVER TO PATRIK DÖRR
Empowering people, creating freedom. For Patrik Dörr, the company has been his second home since childhood. After studying business administration, he made a conscious decision – for his family, for the company. At the 2024 Christmas party, Thomas Dörr handed over the management of the company to him. As a team player, Patrik is shaping the future of both companies in the third generation – with respect for what has been achieved and the courage to break new ground.
